Moving average fields

Shared reading rules — index notation, the L/S/N codes, crossings and Reverse — are on Signal passports. Main backtest settings and the card schema are on Settings and card schema. The behaviour contract is Rules for AI assistants.

Knowledge package 0.6.1, checked 22 September 2026, build 03613bfa. Use the shared role, Reverse and timing rules. The displayed entry is Moving average (MA); the filter is By the moving average (MA_PRICE_LIMIT).

Calculation and settings

p is the period in bars; t selects the average. SMA is the arithmetic mean of close over p values. EMA gives the newest close weight 2/(p+1); Wilder uses 1/p. VWMA is sum(close*volume)/sum(volume) over the window and requires nonzero total volume. FML selects the platform's MRC/FOMO mean line based on smoothed (high+low+close)/3; its period is fixed at 200. It is not a separate FOMO channel condition.

The confirmed period domain is integer 5…200; FML requires exactly 200. The observed default is SMA100, not an optimal choice. Matching a formula coefficient alone does not establish the same initial series or smoothing state.

Entry — ma.entry

With C=close and M=the selected average: C1<M1 and C0>=M0 gives L; C1>M1 and C0<=M0 gives S; otherwise N. This is a crossing event. Already being above the average does not produce another crossing by itself.

Filter — ma.filter

plc=BY_LAST_PRICE: first C>=M gives IL; otherwise C<=M gives IS; otherwise N. Equality gives IL: longs are denied and shorts permitted. This is the filter's actual orientation; do not replace it with a trend-following assumption that price above MA permits Long.

plc=BY_BAR_RANGE: if H>=M>=Lo, return N; otherwise H>=M gives IL; otherwise Lo<=M gives IS; otherwise N. A bar touching or spanning the line therefore permits neither side. The filter uses current-candle calculation and has no timing selector in this schema.

Exit — ma.exit

Use the same crossing with the shared CLOSE_BY action rules: ED/EDOP responds to the opposite directional signal after Reverse; AVG responds to the position's own signal. The MA position filter is not a substitute for this crossing.

Definition coverage and observed controls

The controls below identify this dated schema. Their exact labels, value types and context overrides are in the catalogue. Any omitted standard selector must not be added manually.

  • ma.entry — MAIN / MA. Semantics: Entry — ma.entry. Fields: ss, Is, ct, at, rs, t, p. timeframe: ID-specific list; default 1m; candles: DEFAULT/HEIKEN_ASHI; default DEFAULT; calculation: CL/CR; default CL; Reverse: available; default false.

  • ma.exit — CLOSE_BY / MA. Semantics: Exit — ma.exit. Fields: ss, Is, ct, at, rs, cba, t, p. timeframe: ID-specific list; default 1m; candles: DEFAULT/HEIKEN_ASHI; default DEFAULT; calculation: CL/CR; default CL; Reverse: available; default false.

  • ma.filter — PRICE_LIMIT / MA_PRICE_LIMIT. Semantics: Filter — ma.filter. Fields: ss, Is, ct, rs, pla, t, p, plc. timeframe: ID-specific list; default 1m; candles: DEFAULT/HEIKEN_ASHI; default DEFAULT; calculation: no selector; Reverse: available; default false.
