Parabolic SAR reference

Shared reading rules — index notation, the L/S/N codes, crossings and Reverse — are on Signal passports. Main backtest settings and the card schema are on Settings and card schema. The behaviour contract is Rules for AI assistants.

Knowledge package 0.6.1, checked 22 September 2026, build 03613bfa. Use the shared role, Reverse and timing rules. SAR derives its trailing points from highs/lows using acceleration acc and maximum acceleration max. Defaults are 0.02 and 0.2; confirmed bounds are acc 0.01…2 and max 0.1…2. These values control the indicator, not a percentage stop order.

offset shifts the SAR values relative to current price. With a positive offset o, current close is compared with SAR from o bars earlier, and previous close with the preceding shifted SAR. It is not a delay applied to the entire order/strategy. No complete supported bound for this offset is confirmed by the reviewed constructor; consult the constraint status rather than importing another family's 0…200 limit.

Entry — sar.entry

For finite inputs, define bullish when SAR<C; otherwise bearish, including SAR=C. L occurs when the previous relation was bearish and the current relation is bullish. S occurs when the previous relation was bullish and the current relation is bearish. Otherwise N.

Thus a current equality can complete the bearish transition; it is not the same symmetric crossing predicate as MA.

Filter — sar.filter

Current SAR<C gives IS (Long permitted); SAR>=C gives IL (Short permitted). Equality belongs to the Short-permitted state. No transition is required. Apply the selected offset before the comparison.

Exit — sar.exit

Use the same side-transition event with cba: opposite directional signal for ED/EDOP, own-side signal for AVG, after any Reverse. The indicator point is not itself an exchange stop or guaranteed exit price.

Definition coverage and observed controls

The controls below identify this dated schema. Their exact labels, value types and context overrides are in the catalogue. Any omitted standard selector must not be added manually.
