# Bollinger Bands filter

The filter allows directions to be set by the price position relative to the Bolinger band. Choose which part of the channel should allow action and whether to consider only the last price or the entire bar.

### Add a filter to the task

Open up the task of creating or editing a [Binance robot](/en/binance-robot/binance-first-task-and-launch.md) or a Bybit robot. — [The Bybit robot](/en/bybit-robot/bybit-first-task-and-launch.md) In the filter block, select Bollinger's Lines.

Field Active is missing. Set the filter for the pair the task is going to work with.

### Set the calculation

* **The TF** sets the time frame for the calculation. The initial value is 1 minute.
* The **Type of candle**s is either normal or Heiken-Ash. By default, ordinary candles are used.
* The **Type of filter** determines the directional rule. The new form has the default option By default; the available options are broken down below.
* Period from 5 to 200 bars, by default 20.
* **Average square deviation** is an integer value from 1 to 3, default 2. It's involved in calculating the distance of the bands from the middle line.
* Swing right from 0 to 200 bars. By default 0. When the price is shifted, the bars of the earlier bar are compared to the current price.
* **Count by** the last price or the entire bar range. The new uniform is the first one.

### When the filter allows action

* **By default**: the last price on the upper or upper strip is allowed, the lower or lower long, inside both directions. The bar's range is the upper band's touch, the lower long; the bar that touches both bands, does not allow any direction. The bar is all inside and it's both.
* Inland: Both directions are allowed only when the price is strictly within the channel. When you're calculating the range, the entire bar should be inside. The band's not gonna pass.
* On the inner channel from the middle line: the lower half of the channel allows a long, the upper short. The price or the entire bar must be between the middle and the corresponding outer band; no border contact passes.
* Above/Beyond the channel: the price is much higher than the top band, allowing for shorts, much lower than the bottom long. For the bar range, the entire bar must be behind the appropriate band.
* By past signal (Trend): the last touch of the lower band or exit below it allows a long; the last touch of the upper or exit above shorts. The direction is maintained until the next such event in computational history.

### Determine the meaning of the parameters

In the On the previous signal mode, when calculating the bar range that touched both bands, it is taken into account as an event at the bottom band. When the reverse is turned off, it'll allow the long.

The Price history or bar ranges is used depending on the Count field. If the available accounting history does not contain a relevant event, the direction is not allowed. The rest of the regimes check the status quo.

The directions rules above are for the deactivated Reverse field? is the initial state of the form. If you turn it on, the permissions for the long and short change places. The conditions of both directions and the same direction will remain the same.

### Set the action when you exit the filter

Field When the filter is out refers to the situation when the task stops passing this condition. The new card has the Cancel Cycles option. The form also includes Sell by market and Sell by market with deviation (if indicated).

The filter can also affect a task that is already working: the exit from the condition transmits the selected command. Before you save, check the command's implications for your robot in the Binance or Bybit task description. — [Binance tasks](/en/binance-robot/binance-robot-tasks-and-active-trades.md) — [Bybit tasks](/en/bybit-robot/bybit-robot-tasks.md)

### Save and verify the task

Save the filter card, then check the rest of the conditions and parameters. Several filters should allow it to move at the same time. The filtering permission itself does not mean that the order has been sent or executed.

If the task mode supports the task without a basic signal, the filters can be involved in its start. So the conditions and the action you choose to take when you exit them should be checked before the robot starts.
