# Filter by On-Balance Volume — OBV

The Balance Volume (OBV) filter checks the position of the normalized OBV oscillator relative to the channel. He can allow both sides inside the canal or one side across the border.

### Add the card to the designer

Open the Binance or Bybit robot task and [The ISignal](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md) designer. Select Balanced volume (OBV) from the filter block.

The trading instrument is out of the question. The new card uses form values; it's not a recommended strategy.

### Set the settings

* TF is selected from the list of current form; by default 1 minute.
* The **Type of candle**s is Ordinary or Hakeen-Ash, by default Ordinary.
* **Calculation** allows you to select closed bars or current unlocked bars mode On the intersection (every second). The initial value is On the intersection (every second).
* **OBV Channel Length** smoothing period for normalization, from 2 to 200 bars. By default 5.
* **OBV Average Length** period of final smoothing, from 2 to 200 bars. By default, it's 10.
* The normalization coefficient is involved in the oscillator scale. The starting value is 0.015. Zero is not a good value for calculation.
* **The upper boundary** and lower boundary set the oscillator levels. In the new form, 75 and −75 are indicated.
* Filter type On the inner channel or Upper/Bottom channel. The new card has a channel inside.

### When the filter allows action

* In the inner channel: the value between the lower and upper boundaries, including the boundaries themselves, allows both directions. Nothing is allowed outside.
* Above/Beyond the channel: the value strictly above the upper boundary is allowed by the short, strictly below the lower long. No direction is allowed inside and at the border level.

These rules apply to the deactivated Reverse field? the initial state of the form. The switch changes the long and short. The permission and prohibition of both parties remain the same.

### Consider the meaning of the calculation

The terms are on the scale of the oscillator, not the volume of the money. Unlike an OBV entry or exit indicator, this filter does not wait for a new border crossing.

### Save the card and check the action

In the field **When you exit the filter**, select a loss response. By default , cancel cycles; the Selling by market and Selling by market commands are also available , taking into account deviation (if specified). The exit of the filter can affect the task already in place, not just the new entry.

Keep the card and check the rest of the conditions. All the filters should allow it to go. The consequences of the exit commands and the differences in modes are explained in [The ISignal instructions](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md). The filtering permission does not confirm the order sent or executed.
