# Bollinger Bands

Bollinger's bands calculate the middle line and two boundaries around it. In ISignal, the closing price is compared to the lower and upper bands. You can choose to exit and enter the canal by crossing the canal or going back.

### Fill in the settings

Add the Bollinger Line indicator to the block you want. The instrument is out of the question. Select **The TF** and Candle Type, then fill in:

* Period number of bars for calculating the average and disseminating the price; allowed from 5 to 200.
* **Average square deviation** whole multiples of standard deviation for distance from the mean to each band; 1, 2 or 3 are permissible. It's not a percentage of the price.

By default, period 20, multiplier 2, channel exit condition and crossover calculation are given. These values describe the new card and are not a recommendation.

Select Closing the bar or Intersecting (secondly) in the **Calculation** field. When checking the bar, the current price and the boundaries are changed.

### Select the direction of the intersection

The following rules apply when the Reverse is turned off.

**When you leave the channel**

* Long signal: the price was above the bottom line, and now it's on or below it.
* Shortcut: the price was below the upper band, and now it's at or above it.

**When you get back to the channel**

* Long signal: the price was below the bottom line, and now it's at or above it.
* Shortcut: the price was above the upper band, and now it's on or below it.

The price and band values at the relevant bars are compared. Just being over the line is not a new intersection. The Reverse Switch switches the long and short signals.

### Check the role in the task

The signal must be in line with the task. In the reverse-free exit block, the short signal is used to close the long, the long to close the short.

The reaction is determined by the field **When the signal is received**. The deviation mode depends on the configuration and type of robot; profitable execution is not guaranteed.

The channel position and width filters are adjusted by individual cards. Save the indicator and check the task according to [The ISignal instructions](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md). The bands do not set a guaranteed price range, and the signal does not confirm the order has been executed.
