# Momentum

Momentum compares the current closing price to the selected bar number. In the ISignal constructor, it forms a signal when the result passes through zero and is available for entry or exit.

### Add the card to the designer

Open the Binance or Bybit robot task and [The ISignal](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md) designer. Select Momentum from the entry or exit block.

The trading instrument is out of the question. The new card uses form values; it's not a recommended strategy.

### Set the settings

* TF is selected from the list of current form; by default 1 minute.
* The **Type of candle**s is Ordinary or Hakeen-Ash, by default Ordinary.
* **Calculation** allows you to select closed bars or current unlocked bars mode On the intersection (every second). The original meaning is After closing the bar.
* Period number of bars between the prices being compared. The new card says 10. The value refers to the bar of the chosen timeframe, not the fixed number of minutes.

### When the signal is formed

* Long signal: the previous Momentum value was below zero, and the new one is zero or higher.
* Short signal: the previous value was above zero, and the new value was zero or lower.
* Being above or below zero without a new crossing does not form a crossing signal.

These rules apply to the deactivated Reverse field? the initial state of the form. The switch changes the long and short. The condition of the intersection itself is preserved.

### Consider the meaning of the calculation

Momentum here represents the price difference, not the percentage of change. To check the current side from zero or the momentum growth itself, a separate filter card By Momentum is used.

### Save the card and check the action

In the entry, the long signal is suitable for the long task, the short is short. In the exit, the correspondence is the opposite: the short signal serves as the condition for leaving the long, the long from the short. Other conditions of the task are also taken into account.

Check the field when you get the signal to exit. The initial mode takes into account deviation; its result depends on its configuration and the type of robot and does not guarantee profitable execution. The actions available may vary between modes.

Keep the card and check its role. Details of the commands and restrictions are provided in [The ISignal instructions](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md). The signal is not equal to the executed warrant.
