# Money Flow Index — MFI

MFI is calculated on the maximum, minimum, closing price and volume of transactions. In ISignal, its value is compared to the selected boundaries. You can add a card to your entry or exit.

### Set the settings

Add MFI to the block you want. The instrument is out of the question. Choose **The TF**, Candle Type and Period from 2 to 30 bars.

Enter **The upper boundary** and the lower boundary. Both allow values from 5 to 95, with the top above the bottom. It's the MFI levels, not the instrument prices.

By default, the new card contains period 14, upper boundary 80, lower boundary 20, and exit conditions. These values are not a trade recommendation.

In the **Calculation** field , you can access the Bar Closing and the Intersection (secondly). In the second mode, the bar is checked; its price and volume continue to change.

### Select the crossover condition

When the Reverse is turned off, the directions depend on **The condition** field.

**When you leave the channel**

* Long signal: MFI passes from above to the lower boundary or below it.
* Short signal: MFI goes down to the upper boundary or above it.

**When you get back to the channel**

* Long signal: MFI rises from the area below the lower boundary to or above it.
* Short signal: MFI descends from the area above the upper boundary to or below it.

Processing requires a transition through the level. Being outside or inside the canal doesn't mean a new signal crossing. The reverse switch is changing directions.

### Check the card role

For the entry, the long signal corresponds to the long task, the short short. In the exit block without reverse, the long closes on the short signal, the short on the long.

The exit reaction is set by the field **When the signal is received**. The variation, taking into account the deviation, depends on its configuration and the type of robot and does not guarantee profitable execution.

MFI filters are customized with individual cards and do not replace the entry or exit indicator. Keep the card and check the task according to ISignal instructions. — [The ISignal instructions](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md) The signal hasn't confirmed the execution of the order on the exchange yet.
