# SuperTrend

SuperTrend uses the price fluctuation range to calculate the direction of the indicator. In the ISignal entry and exit blocks, the signal is generated when this direction is changed.

### Set the indicator

Add SuperTrend to the desired constructor block. The instrument is out of the question. Select **The TF** and Candle Type, then fill in:

* **ATR period** number of bars for calculating the average price range; permissible from 5 to 100.
* **ATR multiplier** is the coefficient applied to the ATR range when calculating the boundaries of SuperTrend; it is permissible from 0.1 to 10.
* Sliding right number of delay bars of the verified direction change; permissible from 0 to 200. At zero, the current change is checked, at positive the change to the corresponding number of bars earlier.

The new card default is ATR period 10, multiplier 3 and shift 0. It's the basic interface settings, not the trading recommendation. The shift affects the signal condition, not just the position of the line on the graph.

### Select the time of calculation

In the **Calculation** field , you can access the Bar Closing and the Intersection (secondly). In the second mode, the bar is checked. Before it closes, the direction may change, so two modes may give different signals.

The ATR period and shift are measured in the bars of the selected timeframe. The history is needed for the calculation; the absence of a ready signal immediately after the setting does not confirm the indicator breakdown.

### How to determine the direction of the signal

When the reverse is turned off, the SuperTrend's short-range to long-range transition gives a long signal. The transition from long to short is a short signal. If the direction is maintained, there's no new signal for change.

The reverse switch changes the direction of the signals in places.

### Apply the signal to the task

For the entry, the long signal is used as a long task, the short as a short. In the exit block without a reverse, a change to the short direction serves as a condition for closing the long, and a change to the long serves as a condition for closing the short.

Select the exit action in the **When the signal is received** field. The deviation mode depends on the configuration and type of robot; it does not guarantee profitable execution. There is a separate SuperTrend filter card for the current direction of trading.

Keep the card and check its parameters in the task. The procedure is described in [The ISignal instructions](/en/signals-and-strategy-conditions/isignal-entry-filters-and-exit.md). The indicator condition must pass the rest of the task check, and the order sent must be executed on the exchange.
