# Positions in the futures terminal

**The position** tab shows the open volume on the tools and sides. It can be used to issue a closing order or a coup. This instruction applies to Binance and Bybit's desktop futures terminals in a separate long and short **Hedge mode** mode. Spot and one-sided regime are not part of this.

### Find the right position

Open the [Binance terminal](https://app.itradingbot.net/terminal-binance) or Bybit terminal, check the account in **The future**s header and tag. — [The Bybit terminal](https://app.itradingbot.net/terminal-bybit) The connection of your own account is described in a separate instruction; you can also choose your Exchange Account on Bybit. — [in separate instructions](/en/trading-terminal/connecting-accounts-to-the-terminal.md)

Go to Position and compare the tool, side and quantity. Long and short of one instrument separate sides: action with one should not be considered action with another.

The Hide Others flag leaves the current tool. To see the other pairs' positions, take it off. Check Open Orders separately: they can change the size of the position after the screen is updated.

### Close the side with a market order

When the Trade is enabled, a single click of the button sends the command immediately without additional confirmation. Check the settings before you do it.

1. Check the side and the actual volume in the correct line.
2. Click Close in this row.
3. Confirm the action if a window appears. When the Trade is enabled, the command goes off without it.
4. Wait for the update and check the rest of the position and execution.

The team sends a market order in the opposite direction to the chosen party. The price of execution depends on the market. Notice or disappearance of the window does not replace the remainder check.

Closing the position does not make a separate mass cancellation of all its orders. After that, check the remaining orders and their appointment.

### Close with the limit order

Open the line action menu. Enter the quantity and price, then click **Close by limit**. For partial closure, enter a portion of the actual volume of the required side.

It's creating a closing bid, not a momentary decline. The position remains open until execution. After sending, check the order in Open Orders and after executing the balance in Positions.

In Binance, the price below the current long-term closing price or above the current short-term closing price converts the bid into a conditional one. Then the price is used for activation; check the list of Conditional.

### What Makes a Coup

In the row menu, select Reverse position only after checking both sides of this tool.

The team sends two market orders in a row: close the selected side and open the opposite side to the given volume. If the opposite side already has a position, the new team can increase it.

This is not a single guaranteed operation. An error or partial execution can leave an intermediate result. After the answer, check both sides, execution and open orders before repeating the action.

### Before the mass closure

The Close All button sends commands to list tab positions. With the Hide Others enabled, it remains the current tool; without the filter the positions of the different tools of the selected account.

Check the whole list before you confirm. When trading in one click, there may be no additional window.

The closures are performed by individual teams. In Binance, the result is processed by positions, and Bybit sends them in sequence. A single error does not mean the same result for everyone: after you have done it, check each side and the remaining orders.

### If the position is connected to the robot

Manual position closure and robot task disabling are different actions. Don't consider the manual shutdown to be confirmation of a future signal entry ban.

Check the status of the task and its commands in the [Bybit](/en/bybit-robot/bybit-robot-tasks.md) or [Binance](/en/binance-robot/binance-robot-tasks-and-active-trades.md) instructions. The consequences of changing a task, stopping, cancelling, closing and dropping are the same for your own API connection and Exchange Account.

### Check the result and the balance

After each command, check the number of positions, orders executed and remaining orders. When partially executed, only the executed volume changes; the closing order and position may still be present at the same time.

If you make a mistake or lose your answer, update the data first. If you see an unsupported position mode, check the account mode: the commands described use separate longs and shorts. Repeating the pressure without determining the result does not correct the uncertainty.
