# How Exchange Account Mode works

Plain-language explanation of Exchange Account Mode. Published: 13.09.2026

This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your assets and your data when you use Exchange Account Mode. "Exchange Account" is our name for the trading sub-account opened for you at Bybit; ITradingBot is not an exchange. It is an explanation, not a contract: the binding terms are Section 1A of the [Terms of Service](https://docs.itradingbot.net/company/term-of-service), the [Fee Schedule](https://docs.itradingbot.net/company/fee-schedule) and the [Futures Agreement](https://docs.itradingbot.net/company/futures-agreement).

### Two ways to use ITradingBot

* **API Connection Mode.** You have your own Binance or Bybit account. You create API keys there and paste them into ITradingBot. The robots and the terminal send orders to your exchange account. ITradingBot never touches your assets and does not withdraw them; create your API keys without withdrawal permission, as the Futures Agreement recommends, and a withdrawal through the platform is technically impossible. Identity verification is not required.
* **Exchange Account Mode.** You do not need your own Bybit account. ITradingBot opens a trading sub-account for you on Bybit and gives you access to it from the terminal. Your assets are on Bybit. ITradingBot takes part in the Bybit Exchange Broker Program and receives a share of the trading fees from Bybit.

### Where your assets are

* Your Exchange Account is a **sub-account on Bybit**. It is opened under ITradingBot's master account with Bybit, which is why you can use it without registering at Bybit yourself.
* Deposit addresses are generated by Bybit. Your coins are held on Bybit's systems, in a separate sub-account for you. Assets of different users are not mixed, and ITradingBot's own funds (such as its remuneration from Bybit) are not kept on user sub-accounts; during a withdrawal your amount passes through ITradingBot's master account only as a technical step inside Bybit, and each step is logged.
* ITradingBot has **no blockchain wallets, addresses or private keys of its own**. The only thing ITradingBot has is API access to its master account at Bybit. With it, ITradingBot creates sub-accounts, issues trading keys for the terminal and the robots, and executes the transfers and withdrawals you request.

### Who decides what to trade

You do. ITradingBot does not choose, time or size your trades and does not give investment advice. Robots run only with the settings you set and stop when you tell them to. Backtests, signals and presets are tools, not recommendations. Trading crypto, on spot and especially with derivatives, can lead to loss of the whole balance, including through liquidation.

### How a withdrawal works

1. You ask us to register a withdrawal address for your Exchange Account (through the platform or support). For security it becomes usable **48 hours** after registration.
2. You request a withdrawal and confirm it with your PIN and authenticator code or passkey.
3. Before sending, ITradingBot checks the request against a short closed list of grounds set out in the Terms (for example unfinished MFA, an unregistered address, a Bybit restriction); it cannot change the address or the amount. Requests that pass are sent no later than the next processing window. ITradingBot executes the withdrawal through Bybit's API. Technically this is two steps inside Bybit: from your sub-account to ITradingBot's master account, and from the master account to your address. Both steps are logged.
4. Bybit processes the withdrawal in its own time and after its own compliance checks. Withdrawals are sent to Bybit in the processing windows shown on the withdrawal page.

ITradingBot does not start withdrawals on its own and does not move assets from your Exchange Account without your request, except where Bybit, the law or a competent authority requires it (Terms, Section 1A.3). The only case of its own is to recover an amount that Bybit has charged ITradingBot for your account (for example a negative balance after liquidation), after notifying you and giving you five business days to settle it (Terms, Section 17.2).

### What Bybit can do

Bybit is the exchange that holds the assets. Bybit screens deposits and monitors activity under its own compliance programme and may freeze a sub-account or ask for documents on the source of funds. In that case ITradingBot passes Bybit's request to you and your answer to Bybit, but cannot overrule Bybit. If Bybit itself suspended ITradingBot's master account, ITradingBot could not execute withdrawals until access was restored; ITradingBot would then pursue the return of your assets with Bybit and give you the records to support your claim.

### If ITradingBot suspends your access

If ITradingBot suspends or ends your access to the platform, your Exchange Account is kept in **withdrawal-only mode for at least 30 days**, subject to Bybit's rules and applicable law. Robots are stopped and new orders and deposits are not accepted; you can cancel orders, close positions and withdraw your assets to a registered address. ITradingBot does not close your open positions unless you ask it to. Withdrawals depend on Bybit keeping ITradingBot's master account and your sub-account operational; if Bybit suspends them, ITradingBot cannot guarantee access and will pursue the return of your assets as described above.

### Identity verification

Before an Exchange Account is opened you verify your identity through our provider (Didit): a document, a selfie/liveness check, an age check, a check of your location and automatic screening of your name against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists. A screening hit is always looked at by a person before any decision, because common names produce false matches. Verification is needed only for Exchange Account Mode. It may be required again (for example when your document has expired, you have lost access to your authentication factors, or Bybit requires it), and ITradingBot may at any time ask for additional information, including documents on the source of your funds, and restrict the Exchange Account Services if it is not provided. Any "declined" result is reviewed by a person before we refuse service, and you can contest it. Residents and nationals of certain countries cannot use Exchange Account Mode; the list is Annex A of the [AML Policy](https://docs.itradingbot.net/company/aml-policy).

### Spot and collateral

Your Exchange Account is a unified account: you can trade spot and derivatives on the same balance. Bybit treats the coins it supports as collateral (USDT and USDC always) as margin for your derivatives positions **by default**, and can sell them if a position is liquidated. Which other coins count as collateral is your decision: switch them on or off in the collateral settings of your account before you open positions. ITradingBot never changes these settings for you.

The platform does not offer margin borrowing on Exchange Accounts: ITradingBot does not lend money or give leverage, and Bybit's borrowing features are not available through the platform.

### Fees

You pay Bybit's trading fees at the rate of the fee tier Bybit assigns to ITradingBot, plus a small platform mark-up. Both are deducted by Bybit at the time of each trade; ITradingBot does not deduct fees from your account (the only case in which it moves assets without your request is described above). The current numbers are in the [Fee Schedule](https://docs.itradingbot.net/company/fee-schedule). Bybit may change the tier at any time; the mark-up can be changed only by ITradingBot with 10 days' notice.
